Labor and Employment Law
The firm’s Labor and Employment Law practice group counsels employers in the many aspects of the employment process, from the initial steps of recruiting to the final stages of termination. Our focus is to provide timely and practical advice to allow our clients to achieve their business goals. Our attorneys are recognized experts, trusted by our clients and peers to provide sound advice and help resolve problems with a high degree of efficiency.
Our business law group has handled NLRB collective bargaining matters, including arbitrations, union campaigns, and unfair labor practice proceedings. We assist in the development and implementation of preventive management practices for employers designed to reduce the likelihood of labor relations problems or the desire for employees to seek outside assistance. We also counsel employers in the labor implications arising out of corporate acquisitions, consolidations and divestitures. Additionally, this practice group provides advice to assure compliance with wage and hour regulations and immigration requirements.
We aggressively represent public and private employers in claims arising under Title VII, age discrimination, disability, family leave, sexual harassment and wrongful discharge. We have represented both employers and employees in claims for violations of restrictive covenants and dissemination of trade secrets and confidential information. The firm’s tax practice concentrates on business tax planning and representation before the Internal Revenue Service. We assist in designing business transactions for maximum favorable tax effect and recommend tax-effective strategies to provide maximum shelter against federal income taxes. Our areas of tax expertise include representation in tax audits and tax controversies; defense against IRS collection action; representation in civil and criminal tax litigation; organization of tax-exempt organizations and defense against revocation of tax-exempt status; and the design and implementation of employee stock ownership plans and qualified and non-qualified stock options.
The firm’s Real Estate practice group offers a wide array of services to a variety of clients. Specifically, we offer our clients commercial and residential closing services; including, SBA 504 and 7(a) closing services, Title Insurance coverage, and title opinions. We assist our clients with the acquisition, financing, development, and divestiture of their retail, industrial, residential, commercial and multi-family real estate holdings.
