Robert Finlayson II is one of the most experienced trial lawyers in the firm, having handled numerous jury trials in the federal and state courts of Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. Because of his broad experience in various fields of law, he manages and works extensively in numerous areas, including general corporate, complex commercial litigation, and first-party and third-party insurance with an emphasis on construction disputes. His extensive jury trial background includes aviation, trucking, construction, toxic tort liability, arson and other insurance fraud defense, subrogation, and all facets of general liability and property insurance defense. He has substantial experience in aviation matters, also holding a private pilot license with instrument rating. Having been at one time a full-time practitioner in bankruptcy law and a former member of the panel of Trustees, Mr. Finlayson is well qualified to handle a broad range of business and financial matters. He has also been substantially involved in firm management, serving as Managing Partner and on the Management Committee for many years.

Mr. Finlayson was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on March 17, 1946. He received a B.A. from Davidson College in 1968 and a J.D. from the University of Virginia in 1971. Mr. Finlayson has been admitted to the State Bars of Virginia and Georgia, the U.S. Court of Military Appeals, the Eleventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Atlanta and American Bar Associations, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, Inc., and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. Mr. Finlayson also served as a Captain in the JAGC, U.S. Army, 1971-1975, concluding his military career in the Civil Litigation section of the Office of the Judge Advocate General at the Pentagon.
