Mozley, Finlayson & Loggins LLP is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support the insurance defense and civil litigation teams for a busy mid-size law firm in our Dunwoody office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational abilities, be detail-oriented, and must work well under pressure. The Position: The Litigation Paralegal role is a key position in the insurance defense and civil litigation practice groups. You will be responsible for case management which entails managing and analyzing documents, creating calendar entries, tracking and managing deadlines; developing a system for case management from inception to completion; reviewing and summarizing case files, medical records, medical bills, and client documents, and drafting pleadings. You will be responsible for assisting with the preparation for mediations, depositions, and trials, which can include assembling and identifying trial exhibits, legal research, summarizing depositions, and staying on track with trial deadlines


Essential Duties

  • Conduct research using LEXIS, Westlaw, or other relevant research platforms.
  • Collect, organize, review, and maintain documents and files related to legal matters, including documents received from the client, opposing parties, or other sources
  • Manage calendars and dockets, and tickler systems, and assist in meeting deadlines
  • Draft basic pleadings and court filings (federal and state)
  • Assist with responding to discovery requests and manage production of documents,
  • Support attorneys as they prepare for depositions, including identifying and compiling records and preparing exhibits and medical summaries.
  • Summarize and analyze medical records and bills and identify additional providers from those records for document requests.
  • Draft Non-Party Requests for Production of Documents, Subpoenas, and Open Records Act Requests
  • Ensure compliance with subpoenas, including following up with medical providers for requested medical records
  • E-file and serve using PACER, Odyssey, and PeachCourt, and pull pleadings and dockets from online filing systems
  • Telephone calls with clients to obtain discovery responses
  • Summarize deposition transcripts
  • Entering billable time using litigation codes


Required Skills

  • 5 + years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal is required
  • High School degree is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must be an excellent communicator in the English language with a particular strength in clear, detail-oriented, and accurate writing
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and have the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively with a focus on details
  • Must have experience with major case load/high volume of cases and strong organizational skills with case files
  • Experience preparing for depositions and trial
  • Advanced technical skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and document management systems
