Mr. McKinley joined the firm as a partner in 2007. Mr. McKinley works in all areas of the firm’s defense litigation practice, including representation of self-insureds and insured companies in automobile and trucking cases, products liability, premises liability and other tort matters, as well as first-party representation of insurers in claims involving coverage, breach of contract and bad faith. He also represents insurers in suspicious or suspected fraudulent claims. He has presented seminars to claims professionals on a variety of insurance matters as an approved instructor with the Georgia Department of Insurance. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute.

Mr. McKinley also represents car dealers on various legal matters, including claims involving express and implied warranties, lemon law, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, fraud, bad faith, and other alleged breaches of contractual and tort obligations. He is a member of the National Association of Dealer Counsel.

Mr. McKinley previously served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia, practicing in the Environmental and Civil Rights Litigation Sections of the Law Department and was also a partner at another Atlanta law firm.

Mr. McKinley received his undergraduate education at the University of Georgia and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, graduating cum laude in 1996. During law school, Mr. McKinley served on the Managing Board as an articles editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law.

Mr. McKinley is a member of the American Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association. Mr. McKinley has been actively involved in the Georgia High School Mock Trial Program since 2002, including serving as an attorney coach.

In 2009, Super Lawyers magazine named Mr. McKinley as a Rising Star marking him as a top Georgia lawyer under age 40. No more than 2.5% of Georgia lawyers can be named a Rising Star.

Mr. McKinley was born in Falls Church, Virginia. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1996 and has been admitted to practice in all trial courts in Georgia, the Georgia Supreme Court, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia.
